1959-2009  ( Breast Cancer Survivor 1997 – 2009)

“Suey” Starczynski interviewed for a job at Exerstrider in 2003. She honestly admitted that she didn’t exercise and, in fact, “hated to exercise.”  Yet I knew immediately that she was the exact right person for the job. She had been a breast cancer survivor for six years at that point.  I offered to pay her to Exerstride for 30 minutes a day and in no time she became passionate about both Exerstriding and the overall heath and disease preventative power of exercise.

Sadly in 2007, she suffered a relapse of her cancer which had spread to her bones and liver. In the face of all of that, Suey still maintained the same glowing smile and positive attitude she always had. In December of 2009, we lost the shining light that Suey’s unique spirit shed on everyone that she met in her too-short life.  To honor her spirit and passion for Exerstriding, we created the Suey Starczynski Pevention Project to help educate the public about the significant cancer (and other diseases) preventative benefits of regular moderate exercise. Suey believed strongly that her love of exercise extended her life and bettered the lives of so many others she introduced to Exerstrider.
